Don’t Sell Yourself Short

I always tend to think, “I need more research,” “I don’t quite fully understand yet,” so I read statistics, manuals, read, read, read, and when I finally feel confident talking to another person who teaches on the topic or does the thing. I find I’m more knowledgeable than I thought. The funny thing is, I’m known to jump in before I know how.

I tend to say, “I’m not really talented, but I have something to share”. I don’t hit every key; I get off time. I also came from a time before auto-tune. We had to keep doing retakes until we got it right. We practiced before live shows to eliminate more errors, but you just know there will be issues live. We certainly didn’t have live auto-tune.

I say all this not to poo-poo on new tech, but to note that things are always changing, and you have more than you think you do. Are there people who think they are better than they are? Maybe. Or maybe we are all casting spells and living as though we already have it, and for some, it takes longer to actualize than others. But I’m talking to my people. The ones that work and research in private waiting to attain a certain level before you spout off ignorantly, only to find you studied your way past people making money out of it.

“Life is a series of hills and valleys,” a friend used to say to me often. Life is also cyclic. So, we go through things in cycles and through ups and downs. You appreciate the highs when you see the contrast of the lows. You learn when to jump in, when to sit back and wait, and when to stay still. As they like to say, “Life is a game,” you might as well learn how to win.

I want you not to wait until you’re perfect. I want you to jump in now! Honestly, with everything we know about the world, what are you waiting for? Go experience life on your terms, from your dreams. What other people think of you is none of your business. I like to cast a spell;

“your opinion of me is none of my business

It’s all my abundance

Say what you want because it all comes back to me

My life improves every time you speak my name.”

This is what I mean by learn the game and win. Ok, these are the circumstances? Got it! Don’t sit around and wallow in other people’s opinions. They are only revealing themselves, not you. Those who mind don’t matter.

We tend to be our own harshest critics. You can do anything you can dream of. Sometimes it just takes a little more creativity and effort than you’d wish or had anticipated. What else are you going to spend your life doing? What do other people want for you? Or what do you want to experience? I’ve put out some absolute trash songs. But I’m still proud of it. I worked hard, and that’s as much as I knew at the time. Or all I was able to afford or understand. Sometimes I didn’t even know what to look for in order to pay for someone to do it. Life is a process; go out there and experience as much as you can for as long as you can.
